It is a rare event in football for a player to score four goals in a game and end up on the losing side, but that is exactly what happened to young ‘Loons’ striker Cameron Clark at Station Park on Sunday afternoon in an SPFL Under 19 League Cup tie.
Despite his heroics which included two superb second half strikes, the home team lost out in the end to visitors Dundee 6-5, the Dens Park youngster’s eventual winner coming from the penalty spot in the 80th minute of an amazing contest.
The visitors took the lead within 30 seconds of the kick-off, Kerr Hay notching the equaliser on the 15 minute mark. By half-time, Dundee had gone 3-1 ahead, but the home side levelled the scores through obviously a Clark brace, before the away side again restored their two goal advantage. Back came the ‘Loons’ to get back on level terms again, only to lose out to the eleventh and final goal of the game.
It’s a trip to the central belt this coming Sunday for the Station Park youngsters to meet Stirling Albion in the same competition.
