[Sunday, 07 December 2014 16:12]
The week ahead will be to say the least a busy one for Forfar Athletic officials and backroom staf
It all begins on Monday night with the weekly ‘Loons Lottery’ draw with a pre-Christmas jackpot of £2,250 on offer, this being followed as far as the Directors are concerned with their regular fortnightly board meeting.
On Tuesday afternoon the 3G playing surface is being utilised by Aberdeen to play their SPFL Development League fixture against Hearts, the kick-off in this game2p.m.
In the evening while the first team squad are put through their paces at training, the club’s Development Squad will be in action at a venue in Dunfermline against Cowdenbeath in the SPFL Development League East.
Wednesday afternoon then sees Dundee United and St. Johnstone ‘lock horns’ in another Development League fixture, the kick-off on this occasion 1.30p.m. This is followed by a fixture under the auspices of the Scottish Students FA with a 4p.m. start.
On to Thursday and while the first team utilise their current Thursday evening training base at McDiarmid Park, the final game in the tri-angular tournament between the Aberdeenshire, Midlands and Perthshire Amateur Football Associations takes place. It is on this occasion Perthshire v Midlands with a 7.30p.m. kick off. Admission to this game is £2 for adults, £1 concessions.
The 1984 Lounge at the ground will be open at this fixture from 6.45p.m. onwards.
Friday evening will be a big night for club officials when the 1984 Lounge at the ground will stage it’s biggest event to date, a sell-out pre-Christmas Dinner. Over eighty patrons will we all trust enjoy the hospitality on offer as well as the entertainment on the night in the form of Dick Campbell and top sporting impressionist Paul Reid.
Finally on Saturday we get to the most important event of the week, the home SPFL League One fixture against Stirling Albion. Three points from that game will put the ‘icing on the cake’ for all concerned. As ever the match apart, club officials and their ever willing and much appreciated helpers will be busy looking after a ‘full house’ of sponsors and hospitality guests as well as hopefully a fair sprinkling of supporters in celebratory mood in the lounge.
