‘Loons’ edge out the ‘wee’ Rangers

Gary Bollan’s outfit ran out 2-1 winners over Brora Rangers at Station Park on Saturday afternoon in their second pre-season friendly with debutant Jim Lister notching both goals.

Stuart Malcolm returned to the ‘Loons’ fold in the starting line-up, while the home support also got their first view of Lewis Milne in club colours.

The first half was a hard fought if slightly dour affair, but within sixty seconds of the re-start, the game burst into life as David Cox cracked an angled drive off the crossbar.
The home side took the lead in the 59th minute, Lister rifling the ball home from 18 yards out into the right hand corner of Joe Malin’s net.
Five minutes later and the Highlanders equalised, a shot from the edge of the box by Martin Maclean taking a deflection of his team mate Steven MacKay prior to deceiving Grant Adam in the home goal.
It was Jim Lister who sealed the victory in the 72nd minute rising to head a David Cox free kick into the net, despite the best efforts of the visiting custodian.

Another more than useful pre-season exercise for the Athies, with Brora providing stiff opposition.

Dundee United in what will be the Tannadice outfit’s first public outing under Ray McKinnon are next up for Gary Bollan’s side on Tuesday night, again at Station Park.
