Rovers Win Friendly Honours

Tuesday, 13 July 2010 22:00

Forfar Athletic 0 Raith Rovers 1

Forfar Athletic enjoyed a good work-out against a full-time side at Station Park. The Loons called on the services of Euan McLean in goal due to on-loan keeper Scott Gallacher being injured. Raith were forced to make a change just before kick-off when Iain Williamson was injured in the warm-up and had to be replaced by Stephen Simmons.

Raith Rovers had the first opportunity after 13 minutes with Simmons testing McLean with a cute lob from the edge of the box.
Rovers created several chances but the Loons goal remained unbreached.
The best chance of the half fell to Martyn Fotheringham when he found time and space inside Rovers box in 39 minutes but could only hooked his shot wide of the target.

The second half began with Raith Rovers on the attack and this time their endeavours were rewarded with a goal in the 56th minute. Baird swung a cross in from the left which was headed home by Rovers' trialist, former Airdrie player Diarmuid O'Carroll.
McLean stopped Rovers doubling their led with an acrobatic save from an O’Carroll header following a Walker corner.
