The ‘Loons’ were given a lesson in finishing at Station Park last night as visitors Stirling Albion headed home with all three points following a 6-2 victory.

It all looked so different early on as the home side had the better of the exchanges, the visiting custodian thwarting Josh Chalmers as early as the second minute.

The alarm bells perhaps starting ringing in the 28th minute when one of the smallest players in the Albion side Alberto Vezza rose unchallenged at the far post to head a right wing corner into the net to give the visitors the lead.

However within ten minutes the home side were level, Jamie Gill swivelling on the edge of the box to drill a shot into the net.   Indecision in the home defence then allowed Stirling to restore their lead with three minutes of the half remaining, Reg McLaren the scorer.

Again the ‘Loons’ came out of the traps without doubt at the start of the second period, only desperate defending thwarting Gill and Kyle Clark, but once the ‘Binos’ netted number three the roof quite literally fell in on the home ranks.

McLaren netted number three for the visitors with a  crisp finish, then he turned provider for Callum Macdonald to net number four, sub Dillon Young the scorer of the fifth.

Jamie Penker reduced the leeway in the 85th minute with a fine strike from an acute angle, the home side by this stage down to ten men following the sending off of Jamie Gill for two bouts of dissent, Taylor Evans rubbing ‘salt into the wounds’ with a sixth goal for Albion right on the final whistle.

All in all a disappointing night for the Station Park outfit.

The Athies youngsters complete their pre-Christmas SPFL development League East fixtures with a visit to Kelty on  Wednesday night of next week to face Cowdenbeath.
