Despite going ahead through Omar Kader’s opener, Forfar failed to take all three points against a tricky Airdrie side in arguably their best performance under Gary Bollan.

Kader’s first half goal was cancelled out by an impressive goal from Nicky Cadden shortly before the hour mark with O’Brien hitting the bar for the Loons.

Cadden and Swankie both went close with efforts for either side in the opening ten minutes as Forfar looked to threaten down the wings with both Danny Denholm and Omar Kader starting.
Scott Martin failed to threaten the Airdrie keeper with a volley just before the half hour mark but the away side did take the lead in the 38th minute; Thomas O’Brien drove forward from his own half and after stabbing a through ball to Euan Spark, the pacy right back cut the ball back from the byline to Kader. His first effort was parried but he reacted first to bundle the ball home.
Airdrie looked to grab an equaliser before half time but both Cadden and Alan Lithgow failed to threaten.
Forfar could have been further ahead just after the beginning of the second half when O’Brien rose to meet a Swankie corner but Andy Ryan misjudged his header and despite attempting to jump out of the way he denied O’Brien a goal.
The defender went close again in the 53rd minute when a corner was cleared out to him; his powerful volley was pushed onto the bar by the impressive Parry and Gareth Rodger attempted a carbon copy but couldn’t keep the shot down.
Airdrie equalised in the 59th minute through a fantastic effort from Nicky Cadden; a poor clearance hung in the air and he met it with a volley that rocketed into the top corner.
The Loons looked to retake the lead and seemed to be the side on top but despite Omar Kader creating a good chance for Denholm to take the points late on, the winger fired first time instead of composing himself and he fired wide of the mark.
