The game started at a lively pace with both teams going on the offensive. An early defence slip by Gareth Rodgers was pounced on by Leighton McIntosh who drove into the box, but a good sliding tackle from Thomas O’Brien cleared the danger before he was through on goal.
A good forward run from Danny Denholm saw him slip the ball to his left for Scott Smith who fired goalwards, but it was blocked by a defender.
Darren Hill was called into action again after a slick move down the left saw Leighton McIntosh through on goal, but Darren came out to snuff out the danger.
Nicky Riley again troubled the defence as he cut inside to get a good left footed shot off, but there was not enough curl on the ball to get it on target.
Andy Ryan showed nice touches in the box to get clear of his marker on the left edge to dink a cross over which was just too high for Danny Denholm to get on the end of.
A Gavin Swankie corner was cut back to the penalty spot where Andy Ryan connected well with the ball only to see it cleared from the goal-line by a Peterhead defender.
The best move of the half for Forfar started at the back with passes from Rodgers, Hodge, Craig and Denholm set Andy Ryan free to drive into the box and fire a low cross along the 6 yard line, but unfortunately Omar Kader could only find the side netting.

The second half exploded into action with Forfar taking the lead within 2 minutes of the restart. A good ball into the penalty box from Omar Kader saw Steven Craig get a strong header goalward which had Graeme Smith beaten. The ball rebounded off the foot of the post and fortunately for Forfar fell perfectly for Danny Denholm to tap home.
Peterhead had a free kick some 30 yards out which Jamie Stevenson took and was heading for Darren Hill’s top right hand corner but the keeper got a good hand to it to keep it out.
Forfar’s second goal came from a brilliant pass from Gavin Swankie to split the defence and Omar Kader collected and perfectly slid the ball across the goal for the on rushing Steven Craig to fire home.
Gavin Swankie had a chance when he picked up a loose ball and drove goalwards only to drag his shot wide left. A good one two between Omar Kader and Steven Craig got Omar clear on the right where his cross was just too high for Andy Ryan to get over and get his header on target.
From a goal kick Rory McAllister muscled his way onto the ball and was bearing down on goal, but Bryan Hodge managed to get something on the ball only to see it head goalwards and Darren Hill having to be at full stretch to keep it from being an own goal.
