SPFL League One - 600

The ‘Loons’ squandered a two-goal lead in a frenetic local derby against Montrose at Links Park and for the second-week running had to settle for a point in a fixture against near neighbours.

The visitors were in total control in the early stages of the contest and were two up within 22 minutes.   Jamie Bain netted the first with a neat finish after running on to an excellent through ball from Dylan Easton.

Latest signing Mark Hill then rifled home number two from the edge of the box.

However, a defensive howler allowed Montrose back into the contest courtesy of a Graham Webster goal on the half hour mark and to be fair the ‘Gable Endies’ shaded the second half action and netted a deserved equaliser from sub Danny Cavanagh with 15 minutes remaining.

Both sides had glaring opportunities to win the game in the closing minutes.

Jim Weir and his players now have to prepare for the visit of on form East Fife to Station Park this Saturday as the first quarter of the league campaign comes to a close.
