Archie Knox to Visit Station Park – 9 December 2017

Friday, 24 November 2017 15:49

Saturday the 9th of December and the visit of Alloa Athletic to Station Park will once again in many ways see Archie Knox return ‘home.’

We are delighted that Archie will join us to sign copies of his autobiography, ‘The School of Hard Knox’, which was published earlier this year and features a forward by Sir Alex Ferguson.  Archie will be in the 1984 Lounge from 1.45pm to 2.15pm and then in the Club Shop from 2.20pm till kick-off.

Copies of the book, which Archie co-wrote with Roger Hannah, will be available to purchase in both venues at a special discounted price of £15 (RRP £16.99).   Anyone who may already have a copy of the book is welcome to bring it along to be signed. The 1984 Lounge is open to members of the public and can be accessed from the mart end of the ground next to the main stand.

The book would make the perfect Christmas present not only for Forfar supporters but for any fan of the beautiful game as it chronicles the life and career of one of the most admired and respected coaches ever to grace Scottish football.

Despite his playing, coaching and managerial career having taken him to the highest echelons of the game, Archie has never ever forgotten where both his playing and managerial careers began and he still undoubtedly has a fondness for the ‘Loons.’

Archie joined the Station Park club as a raw 18 year old back in 1965 spending five seasons with the club before being transferred to St. Mirren.  His playing career continued at Dundee United before a short stint as Player-Coach at Montrose.

It was in the late Autumn of 1976 that he returned to Forfar as Player-Manager and the rest as they say is history!

Four years later he began his relationship with Alex Ferguson as his Assistant at first Pittodrie, then Old Trafford. Aberdeen and Manchester United apart he has also had spells as Manager or Assistant Manager at Dundee, Rangers, Everton, Millwall, Coventry City, Livingston, Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers, Motherwell and then back at Aberdeen with Craig Brown.

He also assisted Craig with the management of the Scotland team and had a twelve month spell in charge of the Scotland Under 21 side.

Anyone who cannot make it along on 9 December is welcome to order a copy by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  and we can arrange for Archie to sign it on the day with a special message.
