MATCH PREVIEW: Elgin City v Forfar Athletic

Just five weeks after they picked up a point apiece from a 1-1 draw at Station Park, Elgin City and Forfar Athletic ‘lock horns’ again in Ladbrokes League 2 action at Boroughbriggs this Saturday in the quest for vital league points.

The ‘Loons’ go into the game without a win in their last five outings, while Jim Weir’s side have failed to pick up a three point haul in their last four league matches.

Gary Bollan is hoping to have a near fully fit first team pool available to him for the journey north.

Grant  Adam will return in goal following his one match suspension while Gavin Swankie who just failed a late fitness test for the Edinburgh City clash will hopefully be ready and raring to go this time round.

Former Queens Park striker Aiden Malone who has featured on the substitutes bench on three occasions in recent weeks is likely to sign on an amateur registration later today and he will again be included in the Athies squad.

In all probability after his stated disappointment at the end result and parts of the overall performance against the Capital City outfit, the ‘Loons’ boss will be contemplating a few changes to his starting eleven.

Elgin drew 1-1 with bottom of the table Cowdenbeath at Central Park on Tuesday evening, having lost 1-0 down at Annan last Saturday.  

Talisman Shane Sutherland returned to action in the second half of the game in midweek and is almost certain to return to Jim Weir’s front line on Saturday.

The former Inverness Caledonian Thistle player has been a ‘thorn in the flesh’ of the Station Park men to date this season as has former Jeanfield Swifts striker Chris McLeish.

The 1-1 draw in February apart, the sides shared a similar score line at Elgin on January 2nd, Forfar winning 3-2 at Station Park away back in August.

Kemnay based first season Grade One official Graham Beaton will handle a Forfar league fixture for the third time this season at Boroughbriggs.
