The young ‘Loons’ lost 4-0 to their Livingston counterparts in an SPFL Development League East fixture at Station Park last night.
There was no doubt that the young ‘Lions’ deserved the three points, but to be fair the final score line flattered the visitors and the home side had to take credit from the fact that they fought hard right till the final whistle.
The first half was a fairly even affair punctuated by the opening goal of the contest in the 20th minute when Levi Kinchant slid the ball past the advancing Jacob Otto in the home goal.
Both sides had their chances in the second period before against the run of play at the time, the visitors netted a second on 71 minutes, Jack Hamilton bursting clear of the home rearguard to rifle the ball into the net from 15 yards out.
Forfar then had their best spell of the contest, visiting keeper Jordan Pettigrew bringing of the save of the match to thwart Jo Johnson, before a bullet of a header from Sam Clark grazed the woodwork.
The last five minutes of the ninety and the subsequent added on time proved a period to forget for the home outfit however as Hamilton added a third, before Ben McGhee netted number four for the West Lothian side.
To compound the Athies late misery Ben Starkey was shown a red card for a moment of rashness to say the least.
Alloa is the next port of call for the ‘Loons’ on Monday evening of next week, before Stirling Albion are the visitors on to Station Park on Tuesday November 21st.
