Share of Spoils in Development Fixture

Forfar Athletic and Alloa Athletic picked up a point apiece following a 1-1 draw in last night’s SPFL Development League East fixture at Station Park.
It was a hard fought and at times highly entertaining contest with a bizarre pre-match twist.
The visitors following a mix up on departure from the Indodrill Stadium arrived at Station Park before realising they had no kit with them!
So it was a case of ‘Loons’ in their first choice kit of navy/sky, while the ‘Wasps’ took to the field wearing Forfar’s change kit from last term of white/sky.
It was the team in white however who took the lead in the 19th minute of the contest when a John Cunningham shot from 12 yards out took a deflection on its way past home custodian Jacob Otto.
Within sixty seconds the scores were level with the home side scoring a sublime goal. A four man move the length of the pitch ended with Ben Starkey volleying a pinpoint Jamie Gill right wing cross into the roof of the net from close range.
The two well matched and youthful sides had chances to clinch the points in the remainder of the contest, the visiting keeper perhaps just the busier of the two, but in the end a draw was in all probability a fair outcome.
The young ‘Loons’ have no league fixture next midweek but will play Tayport Juniors in what is a re-arranged friendly at Station Park on the Tuesday evening with the normal 7.30p.m. kick-off.
Their next scheduled SPFL Development League East fixture away to Berwick Rangers in the first week in March is also in doubt due to the wee Rangers first team commitments.
