MATCH PREVIEW - Dunfermline Athletic v Forfar Athletic
[Thursday, 16 October 2014 10:59]
The top two teams in the SPFL League One go head to head at East End Park on Saturday with both managers while not demeaning the importance of the fixture, quite rightly stating that no matter the outcome, there will still be another 26 games to go for both come the final whistle.
The ‘Loons’ go into the game on the back of a six game unbeaten league run, while the home side have won six of their last seven fixtures. Back in August it was Dick Campbell’s side who clinched the three points in the Station Park encounter between the sides, courtesy of second half goals from Dale Hilson and Darren Dods, while interestingly looking back to last term, both games between the sides in the ‘Kingdom’ ended in hard fought draws.
Forfar are expected to go with the same starting eleven for the third week running with no fresh injury worries on that score, although Gavin Malin a sub in recent weeks did pick up a slight groin strain in the Development League fixture in midweek.
The ‘Pars’ go into the game on the back of a 1-0 win last Friday night which for just under 24 hours lifted them to the top of the table. Faissal El Bakhtaoui was their first half marksman in a match which saw Jim Jeffries main summer signing Michael Moffat return to his old Ayrshire ‘stomping’ ground.
The man in the middle on Saturday is the highly experienced Premiership official Stephen Finnie.
A larger than normal visiting support is expected to make the trip to East End Park with a few seats still available on the Supporters Coach leaving the Myre Car Park at 1p.m.
