Joe McGovern joins the ‘Loons’

There was a new name on the Forfar Athletic team line for yesterday’s Irn Bru Cup tie with New Saints.

Twenty two year old Joe McGovern was listed as the substitute goalkeeper having been registered on a contract till the end of the season just thirty minutes before the 12 noon deadline.

Born in Eniskillen and the younger brother of Northern Ireland keeper Michael McGovern, Joe spent the last four seasons with Dundee United before being released in the summer.

During his time at Tannadice, he had spells on loan at Clyde, Montrose and East Fife.
