Of The Loons
The BBC have published this morning their annual and comprehensive survey into the cost of attending senior football in the British Isles.
All 42 SPFL clubs responded to the survey along with all the clubs in the Premiership, EFL and National League south of the border except Plymouth Argyle.
Also included on this occasion were the teams in the Womens Premier League in England and guess what?
The ‘Loons’ supply their loyal fans and visiting supporters to Station Park for that matter with the cheapest pie and cup of tea to be found at a senior ground in the UK.
Priced at £1.20p for a quality pie sourced over many a year from Saddlers in the town alongside 80p for a piping hot cup of tea, the value for money costing of £2 well out stripped the opposition nationwide.
Even in our own league it would cost £3.50p for similar fare at Berwick, Clyde and Stirling, while at Hampden for a Queens Park game the cost is £4.60, £5 at Ibrox.
Head to the top of the Premier League in England and you will pay a staggering £7.30p at Old Trafford, £6 at the Emirates.
The full survey results can be found on the BBC sport website.
The ‘Loons’ value for money pricing will feature strongly during a review of the survey by David Currie on Reporting Scotland this evening.
