Of The Loons

The ‘Loons’ will pay only their second visit to the Falkirk Stadium on Tuesday night to meet a home side who have made a superb start to their Betfred Cup Group A campaign. A home 4-1 victory over Stirling Albion on the opening day was followed up by an excellent 2-0 win up at Inverness on Saturday past, Joe McKee and Nathan Austin, the ‘Bairns’ marksmen on the day.
Those results certainly show that Peter Houston’s side are not suffering a hangover from their Premiership Play-Off Semi-Final defeat from Dundee United and victory over the Athies will all but secure a round two spot.
Gary Bollan’s side will head for the central belt determined no doubt to put what could only be described as a disappointing ninety minutes against Stirling Albion on Saturday behind them.
Few if any of the ‘Loons’ squad got out of second gear on the day with Albion running out worthy winners.
The Manager does not at present have a lot of options at his disposal but may well tinker with his starting line-up as he now utilises the ties with Falkirk and Caley-Thiste as preparation for the visit of Airdrieonians on the opening day of the league campaign on Saturday week.
The referee on Tuesday evening is experienced Ayrshire official Kevin Graham.
Admission charges are again £10 for adults, £5 concessions with Under 16’s admitted free of charge.
