Of The Loons
With the ‘Loons’ not in action this coming weekend, a reminder to local footballing fans that Forfar Athletic will play host on Saturday to one of the eight third round ties in the Irn Bru Cup.
Highland League leaders Cove Rangers fresh from a 4-0 win at fellow title contenders Formartine last Saturday and with their new stadium at last under construction, will again utilise Station Park as their home venue for the tasty visit of Irish League side Crusaders.
The Belfast based club currently sit in third place in their league race following on an impressive 3-0 victory over Glentoran at the Belfast Oval on Monday evening, a match that was televised live on Sky Sports.
Crusaders will almost certainly become the first club from the province to tread the Station Park boards, a year to the very day that New Saints in fact became the first Welsh League club to play in the ‘toonie.’
Saturday’s fixture has a 3p.m. kick-off and admission prices to both stand and terracing are £10 for adults, £5 concessions.
The 1984 Lounge situated outside the ground at the west end of the main stand will be open from 1.30p.m. until kick-off and for a short period after the final whistle with supporters of both sides and neutrals all welcome.
