Date – Tuesday 17th July

Summary – Manager Jim Weir does not have his early season troubles to seek for Tuesday night’s first competitive match of the season at Falkirk. His nineteen man pool is severely depleted. Matty Aitken and Michael Kennedy are ruled out through injury, while youngster Jack Allan is on holiday. John Baird serves a one match ban carried over from last season, ironically his second booking coming in Caley Thistle’s colours against the ‘Loons.’ Gary Fraser will face a late fitness test.
Nevertheless the visitors with a more than reasonable pre-season behind them will hope to test their Championship opponents whom they meet at this stage of the tournament for the second season in succession. Falkirk managed by Paul Hartley who brought in a dozen new faces in the summer will be keen to bounce back from their shock 1-0 defeat from Montrose in the opening group fixtures on Saturday past.
