Gary Irvine – ‘Loon’s latest recruit

Jim Weir added to his squad in the aftermath of yesterday’s game when 33 year old Gary Irvine who had appeared as a second half sub at Kirkcaldy in a ‘trialist’ role put pen to paper on a short term deal to the end of the current season.

Gary equally at home in defence or midfield is best remembered for lengthy spells in the colours of St. Johnstone and Dundee before spending the previous two seasons with St. Mirren.

However he decided last summer to take a break from the playing side to consider his future and has in fact been assisting of late with the coaching of the younger players at Dens Park.

The Forfar manager has however convinced him to return to the fray and hopefully he will be a useful addition to the Station Park first team pool in what looks likely to be a vital last third of the campaign.
