Station Park News Desk

As we approach the end of a week when the ‘Loons’ have no competitive fixture due to our early exit from the Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Cup, we are taking the opportunity to keep supporters up to date on the Station Park news front.
Firstly all the fit players in the squad got a run out last night in a closed-doors friendly against a Dundee XI at Station Park which the home side won 2-0. One of the goals actually came from a spectacular 50-yard strike by Sean Burns which on any other occasion would have been a cert for goal of the season.
On the medical front, Dale Hilson is still struggling following the injury he sustained at Falkirk last month and may have to go for a further scan, while Andy Jackson is still in recovery mode from the severe concussion he received in the Montrose game.
Sadly Murray MacKintosh now also looks likely to be sidelined for a few weeks with an ankle knock he picked up at Dumbarton last Saturday. It never rains but it pours!!
With the transfer registration window and the extended window for loan signings also now firmly shut till early January, options for replacements even short term are, to say the least limited.
Away from the ‘field of play’ the club’s never-ending fundraising drive continues in the Reid Hall tonight with a more than reasonable turn out predicted despite the numbers currently away due to the ‘tattie’ holidays for a Buffet Dance with music by Sneaky Treacle who went down a storm twelve months back.
Well done to all involved in the organisation of this event and to all attending thanks for your support and have a great night.
Back to football and tomorrow’s Tunnocks cup ties.
If Raith Rovers were to defeat Glenavon at Starks Park and secure a quarter-final berth, it will almost certainly mean a postponement of our currently scheduled visit to Kirkcaldy on November 16th. That is the weekend set aside for the ties in the last eight of the competition, although that is not totally ‘set in stone’ especially with matches at that stage that may involve League of Ireland outfits or for that matter the Rangers Colts side should they be involved.
A reminder in closing that the ‘Loons’ return to league action at East Fife on the 19th, with Airdrieonians the visitors to Station Park on the 26th of the month.
