Of The Loons
Forfar Athletic have been drawn alongside Hibernian, Dundee, Brora Rangers and Cove Rangers in Group B of the Betfred Cup.
Ties are due to commence on Tuesday, October 6th with of course the big question, will they be behind closed doors or will a limited number of supporters be allowed access.
Although the ‘Loons’ and Dundee have met in competitive action on three occasions in quite recent times, it will be the first time that Hibernian will have met the Station Park outfit in a cup tie since January of 1971 when the ‘Hibees’ ran out 8-1 winners in the Scottish Cup at Easter Road.
Hibernian manager Jack Ross had a short spell as a Forfar Athletic player during Tommy Campbell’s reign as manager.
If the game with Cove is one of the batch of fixtures played in October, it will be the first competitive game between the clubs, the ‘Loons’ having visited Brora on Scottish Cup action in 2008, returning from Sutherland with a 3-0 win on that occasion.
