A Forfar Athletic X1 secured a 3-1 win over local junior outfit Kirrie Thistle in the rain at Station Park on Tuesday evening.
The friendly was arranged to give much-required game time to a few of the Station Park squad, in particular, Daniel Hoban, Cameron Breadner, Cole Starrs, Chris Antoniazzi, Steven Doris and Mark Hill.
However so as not to risk too many of the remainders of his injury and illness hit squad, manager Stuart Malcolm dusted down his boots and alongside coach Martyn Fotheringham ‘survived’ the ninety minutes.
The Athies missed a hatful of first-half chances, Thistle to be fair coming close on a couple of occasions, before the visitors took the lead halfway through the second period.
The unfortunate scorer for the Westview side was in fact big Stuart who deflected a left-wing cross past the stranded Hoban.
The goal stirred the home side into action to save their Manager’s blushes and subsequently netted three times in a ten-minute spell.
Cameron Breadner netted the leveller with a left-foot strike, second-half sub Scott Shepherd the scorer of goals number two and three.
All in all a worthwhile exercise for both sides would be the summing up of the ninety minutes.
