Of The Loons

The ‘Loons’ will play their second of three successive home league games on Saturday first when they welcome Dumbarton to Station Park.
It will be the first clash between Athies and the currently table topping ‘Sons’ since April of 2021, following on from the visitors relegation from league one at the end of last season following play-off final defeat.
There is no point in hiding from the fact that it will be a severe test for the home side in the wake of Saturday’s defeat from Stirling Albion.
The news this early in the week on the injury front is slightly heartening.
The fear that Roberto Nditi had suffered ligament damage against the ‘Binos’ has subsided. Following a scan yesterday, the diagnosis is thankfully severe bruising.
It is also hoped that the back spasms suffered by skipper Craig Slater will respond to treatment.
A full preview of the clash with the ‘Sons’ will appear on our social media platforms on Friday as usual.
The kick-off on Saturday is at the normal time of 3p.m.
