Forfar Athletic v Stirling Albion – Match Information
[Tuesday, 29 April 2025 21:10]

Few Forfar Athletic fans could have imagined when the first ball of the competitive season was kicked in anger away back in mid July, the scenario that lies ahead for their club on Saturday first the final day of the William Hill League2 campaign. That scenario as all know is that the ‘Loons’ still require one point from the visit of Stirling Albion to the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park to be assured of safety and with it their continued participation in the SPFL.
Of course three points would be the preferred option for all concerned from Manager Jim Weir to the youngest supporter.
The final outcome as far as league standings are concerned naturally also depends on the result of Bonnyrigg Rose’s visit to Stranraer where a victory for the Stair Park side or in fact a draw would work in the ‘Loons’ favour. That cannot however be counted upon in any way, the Midlothian outfit having followed up their win at Station Park ten days back with a dramatic 96th minute winner at home to Spartans on Saturday past.
Considering the overall performance of the Station Park outfit since the arrival of the current management team especially it has to be said away from home, it is weird in some ways that the club find themselves in danger of having to battle it out in the dreaded League2 play-off final over two legs on the 10th & 17th of May, but 29 goals converted over a 35 game programme tells its own story, especially the fact that five of them came in one game! Hopefully that ‘midas’ touch will be discovered against the ‘Binos’ this weekend in what is without doubt a massive ninety minutes in the history of the 140 year old club.
Despite the fact that the overall attendance at Meadowbank on Saturday was just shy of the 300 mark, there was no doubt that more than half were ‘Loons’ supporters and the management, players and officials can only thank all again for that unwavering backing. More of the same one more time this Saturday will be appreciated and hopefully rewarded.
A reminder that the ‘Kids for a Quid’ promotion remains in operation at this Saturday’s game and naturally this reduced pricing applies to those supporters of the appropriate age group from both home and away support.
The ‘Loons’ faithful should also note that the End of Season Awards including the Supporters and Player’s Player of the Year trophies will be presented in an on pitch ceremony approximately ten minutes after the final whistle at Saturdays game.
The match on Saturday will have the usual 3pm. kick-off.
