Supporters Club Boost ‘Loons’ Coffers

At the end of season presentation ceremony at the conclusion of the Stirling Albion fixture, long serving Forfar Athletic Supporters Club treasurer David Strachan handed over a donation to the parent club of £12,500.
The cheque was gratefully received by Chairman Scott Murdie who along with his fellow Directors are delighted with this long time annual and most welcome contribution to Forfar Athletic funds.
Due in the main sadly to lack of active members and also taking into account the many other fund raising appeals/ventures that the parent club undertake in a calendar year, the fund raising arm of the Supporters group find the organising of events more difficult to put in place.
Never the less, they continue to administer and oversee the running of the Refreshment Kiosk and 50/50 draw on a match day, another ‘string to their bow’ being the sale and promotion of the Player Sponsorship programme.
Formed in the 1946 under the chairmanship of Ralph Neil, goodness only knows what the overall financial contribution to the club by the Supporters Club over those near 80 years has been? At one time of course in the fifties it was in fact the major source of income, gate takings apart for the club.
The current small band of members continue to keep the tradition alive and once again the thanks we are sure of all the Forfar Athletic ‘family’ are extended to current President Rhona Shepherd and her ever willing band of helpers.
‘Lang may yer lum reek’ as they say!
