Supporters Played Vital Role

Craig Slater’s wonder goal at Musselburgh yesterday clinched a place in this evening’s draw for the third round of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup, the twenty William Hill Championship and League1 clubs entering the fray at this juncture.
All eyes will be on former Hibernian and Rangers midfield player, now television pundit Kevin Thomson as he carries out the draw live at 6pm. on the Scottish Cup YouTube channel.
Looking back to yesterday’s keenly contested tie, a real pat on the back to the Forfar Athletic supporters who made the journey to East Lothian from the ‘toonie’ itself and surrounding district, but also as they say from ‘a the airts’ to give Stuart Morrison and his team mates superb backing from the first whistle.
Those sporting the sky blue colours, many familiar faces, some not so, were spread all around the three sides of the Olivebank Arena in an excellent overall attendance of over 600, the ‘Loons’ faithful getting right behind their side throughout the ninety minutes. They certainly all played a vital 12th man role in the eventual successful conclusion. Rest assured this support is so appreciated by the management team, players and officials and as Jim Weir said so eloquently and correctly in his after match interview the club is nothing without the fans.
Keep up the good work and let’s hope we are rewarded with a home draw later in the day.
The ‘Loons’ Directors would also like to take the opportunity to thank all at Musselburgh Athletic for the professional manner in which they carried out the arrangements for the match and especially for the excellent hospitality received on the day. The ‘Burgh’ would appear on the evidence of our first visit to be a vital part and a credit indeed to the town and also the East of Scotland Football League.
All at the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park hope and trust and wish them every good fortune in their quest in the remainder of the campaign to attain a placed in the new Lowland League set up next season. Certainly if the players continue to show similar grit and determination as was witnessed over ninety minutes yesterday alongside a fair degree of skill that achievement should be well within their reach.
